A Tribute to Sir Edmund Hillary

We at Discovery Enterprise would like to pay homage to Sir Edmund Hillary one of the twentieth century’s great explorers who died on January 11, 2008. He will forever be remembered as the man who conquered Everest. On May 29, 1953 at the age of 33, he and Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers known to have reached the summit of Mount Everest. They were part of the ninth British expedition to Everest, led by John Hunt.
